At the discretion of the Board of Directors, a Gerard Swope Award may be presented to a regular or senior member for long and meritorious service to Elfun. The award was established in 1964 t commemorate Gerard Swope, the GE president who founded the Elfun Society in 1928. This is generally considered to be the highest award presented by the organization.
